Use the discipline of journaling, rather than notes, to fully write out what the Lord shares with you.
The aim is not to make it theological or preachy, so do not use commentaries or dictionaries!
Remember, the aim of journaling is to answer the question: "How will I be different today
because of what I have just read."
It should take you about 40 minutes - 20 minutes for the reading,
20 minutes for the writing.
Scripture - write out one verse or so which you believe the Lord is directing you to.
Observation - what is the context of the passage or points of interest, encouragements, challenges, direction, etc.
Application - what is the Lord saying to you practically from the scripture.
Prayer - write out your prayer based on the above.
