Herman Hugo

Herman Hugo

Herman has found his spiritual home among the people of South Hills since moving from Cape Town (South Africa) to California in late 2000. He and Mari, his wife of more than 25 years, share the desire to see marriages strengthened and families thriving, and to see the entire body of Christ connected in small groups. As an elder of the church, Herman seeks to encourage individuals, couples and families as they face the challenges of life, and to join with his fellow elders as they seek the LORD's wisdom and will for South Hills.

The Hugo's have three beautiful daughters, Bianca, Jeanne and Milène, who have all left the nest to settle in Grenoble (France), San Diego and San Jose, respectively. Herman and Mari love playing Scrabble, while enjoying a meal at the Burrito Factory or a BBQ at home. Herman is qualified as an electronic engineer, and works at Infineon Technologies, where he is responsible for the marketing of RF Power semiconductors for use in cellphone base stations.

Nick MacCrae

Nick MacCrae

Nick and his wife, Lin, have been attending South Hills since 1986. They arrived in the US in 1980, moving from Scotland for job-related reasons. When they first arrived in California they were not Christians but came to the Lord while attending the church next door. Nick and Lin will have been married for 36 years in August this year. They are now on their second honeymoon as they are now empty nesters. They have 2 grown children, Tom, married to Bethany, with 2 children of their own Nate and Nadalie and Jenny, married to Ryan. Jenny is currently expecting their first child; she is having a boy whose name is Wesley.

South Hills has been a wonderful place for Nick and Lin to worship and serve our Lord by reaching out to the community. There are so many opportunities to experience and express the love of Jesus at South Hills. That is what they have found attractive about the church for the 23 years they have been attending. Currently Nick and Lin are primarily involved in the Grief Share ministry, which reaches out to people going through bereavement. Nick also serves as a Sunday school teacher in 4th grade. Nick’s interests include riding his mountain bike and gardening.

Todd McMullin

Todd has had the privilege of being a member of South Hills for the 39 years. Todd met Mary Lynn as volunteer staff with the South Hills high school ministry. They were married in 1993 at South Hills. They have four children including two lovely daughters, Natalie and Katie, and two very active Australian Shepherd dogs (females of course).

Todd’s family began attending South Hills about 6 months after it was founded in 1969. Growing up through the Junior High and Sr. High youth ministries provided Todd with a solid foundation for his faith which became his own as he made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ at age 17.

Following his studies at the University of Colorado and time under the ministry of the Navigators, Todd was encouraged to be involved with the high school youth ministry at South Hills as volunteer staff mentoring students. Having studied a foreign language and having traveled to nearly 35 countries, he developed a heart for international outreach which developed during time spent on various short-term trips. The Lord began leading him to work with international students at university campuses for a number years. Connecting and building into the lives of youth and international students from broad cultural backgrounds has been where Todd has received the most joy.

Vocationally, Todd is a software sales professional with particular interest in entrepreneurial ventures. From a recreational perspective, he is an avid snow skier and enjoys a challenging road ride on his Specialized bicycle. Truthfully speaking, he can find no greater sporting satisfaction than navigating pristine knee-deep powder on a calm winter’s day. Todd also enjoys the French language, culture and international travel.
