Our Statement of Faith

The Scriptures – We believe the scriptures of the Old & New Testament as God's inspired Word to all people. It is inspired by God, and is trustworthy in its entirety. It is the final authority in all matters of faith, life and practice. It is the guide for each individual’s everyday life and church practice.
(John 16:12,13; 2 Tim 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1:20,21)

The Godhead - We believe in one God eternally existing in three co-equal persons: Father, Son and Holy
Spirit. We believe that God created everything, rules the universe and is alone to be worshiped. (Deut 6:4; 2 Cor 13:14; Gen 1:1; Ps 100:3;
Job 38:4-7)

The Person and work of Christ - We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary and
lived a life of perfect obedience. He was crucified for our sins as a substitutionary sacrifice, died and was buried. He was raised from the dead by the power of God. He now sits at the Father's right hand,
interceding for His Church, and will return to judge all the earth, when every knee shall bow before Him. (Rom 3:24,25; Rom 8:34; 1 Cor 15:1-11; Eph 1:7; 1 Peter 1:3-5, 2:24; 1 John 2:1-2)

The Person and work of the Holy Spirit - We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person in the Trinity. We believe that the Holy Spirit inspired the Scriptures and convicts the world of sin, righteousness and of
judgment. He enables sinners to turn to God in repentance, lives in believers as a guarantee of eternal life, inspires them to holy living, and comforts us during hardships. He gives spiritual gifts to all believers to serve the Church and the World. (John 16:8-11; 2 Cor 3:6; Rom 8:9; Eph 1:13,14; Eph 4:11-13;
1 Cor 12:7-11)

Man - We believe that human beings were created in God's image, but sinned, and therefore incurred not only physical death, but spiritual death, which is separation from God. We humans are unable to restore the broken relationship and live in a sin-damaged world.
(Gen 1:26,27; Rom 3:23, 5:12; Eph 2:1-3, 2:12)

Salvation - We believe that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and deserve condemnation and death. None of us can ever be good enough to earn a relationship with God. But God, desiring to have a relationship with each person and desiring none to perish, has provided a way for us to be reconciled to Himself: Jesus died on the cross, was buried and rose again. This ultimate sacrifice of God’s own son to pay the price for our sin enables us to enter into God’s kingdom. Each of us must make a personal decision to accept this sacrifice on our behalf. To do so, we repent of our sins and recognize we need a savior, accept what Jesus did as a personal sacrifice for us, and invite him to take over our lives as our Lord. When we do this, we are assured of eternal life. (John 1:12, 3:16, 20:31; Rom 3:23, 10:9; 1 Peter 1:18-19; 2 Peter 3:9; Eph 1:7,2:8-10)

The Church - We believe that the Church is made up of all who believe in Jesus, and is revealed in the local congregation as they gather together for worship, teaching and service. We gladly proclaim the Good News to all people, making disciples of Jesus those who believe, baptizing and teaching them to obey Him. We celebrate two ordinances given by Jesus: baptism as an outward confession of faith, and communion as a remembrance of His death for our sin. We believe that Jesus will come again and gather His Church to be with Him forever, where there will be no more evil, suffering or death. (Mark 1:9-11; Acts 8:36-38;
1 Cor 12:12-14; 2 Cor 11:2; Acts 1:8; Matt 28:18-20; Acts 14:27; Heb 10:25; 1 Thes 4:13-18)
