Larry, a native to East San Jose, came to South Hills in 1997 via the “Mountain” college group. He took a job as a janitor in 1999 where he grew into various supervisory roles within the maintenance department. Recognizing a clear calling from God to move into the Via Monte community, Larry and Sheila Brundage picked up their home and began this new ministry. Since starting the Via Monte ministry, Larry and Sheila have had two children—Alexander and Aliana, and Larry has been officially ordained as a pastor of South Hills Community Church. Larry and Sheila continue to serve as leaders for the Via Monte ministry of South Hills Community Church.

Mike Champlin

Mike Champlin
Interim Director of Children’s Ministries
e-mail:

Mike and his wife, Michelle, have been attending South Hills now since 1993. During that time he has spent a number of years teaching in Sunday school and AWANA. Michelle served as an usher during those years and has spent a number years on the worship team. They have two teenage boys, Eric and Tyler. Eric serves on our media team and Tyler has been involved in Sunday School. They also have a 7 year old daughter, Kristen, who serves by helping her dad with AWANA set up. After moving to Almaden Valley, Mike and Michelle started attending South Hills. During that time, Mike worked as a software engineer, an engineering manager, and for the last few years has felt led to pursue a personal finance venture working from home. Mike also teaches part-time as a substitute teacher, coaches and umpires baseball, softball, soccer, and participates on the board of Almaden Little League by managing their web-site. There are just too many fun things to do in life and not enough time to do them all.
